Night Section 2
Summary: In section two, Elie, his family, and a lot of other Jews were on a train for days, not knowing where they were going. They met a woman, Madame Schachter, who is 50 years old, has a 10 year old son, and lost her husband and other two sons. Madame Schachter started going crazy on the train and would scream,"Fire, Fire!". The men on the train had to tie the woman up because she got so out of control. When they finally arrived at their destination, Aushcwitz, they saw what Madame Schachter had been talking about, a fire. The first thing everyone saw were huge chimneys burning the smell of human flesh.
Predictions: Some Jews are going to die right away and others are going to go straight to working.
Images: Here, are the chimneys that were used to burn the Jews at Auschwitz.
Clarify: The Jews were sent to camps just like this one, Auschwitz, because they were all hated by Hitler.
Try: Why did the Nazis burn the Jews? Who got to pick who lived and who died? Why did they have the authority to choose who got to live or die?
Use: I know what it feels like to be in a cramped car for days, to be tired and hungry, but definitely not to this extent.
Review: Most Jews were killed during the Holocaust. They were sent to horrible concentration camps and were treated so badly. The Holocaust is one of the most tragic events to ever take place.
