Night Section 4
Summary: At camp in Buna, Elie and his father are eager to be put into the best group for laborers possible. Thankfully, they are put into the same warehouse where they count little pieces of equipment. Elie meets some friend in the warehouse, one including a french girl who wipes blood off his face after a Kapo beats him. Many years later, he encounters this french girl again and finds out that she was able to escape the camps by saying that she was not really Jewish. One day, the leader of Elie's block, Idek a Kapo, tells the block that they have the day off. Elie was just walking around being curious when he finds Idek fooling around with a little girl. For being curious, Idek whips Elie. The prisoners experience hangings for those who disobey or lie. The camp is attacked by the Americans. They are attacked by bombs that cause tons of damage to the camp but not to the prisoners.
Predictions: The Jews will be released soon and set free because of the bombings.
Images: These are warehouses that the Jews worked in during their time at Auschwitz or other concentration camps.
Clarify: Due to a certain way a Jew looked or was built, they were given a certain job.
Try: Why were certain Jews like Idek chosen to be a Kapo? Why did the french girl just get set free one day? Is the war finally coming to and end?
Use: I too have once gotten in trouble for being curious, disobeying, and lying.
Review: If a Jew were to do something that an officer did not like, then they would get in trouble. Certain things involved hangings.
